Today with the introduction of Assembly Modelling tools inside CAD products, the range of data to be converted has changed to include Assembly (Product Structure) data. In addition the use of Product Data Management (PDM) and Engineering Data Management (EDM) systems to generate and control release cycle information has created the need to exchange Configuration Management (CM) data.
With the introduction of STEP (ISO. 10303 standard), the mechanism to exchange this type of data is now available. DXN allows you to separate out items from within a single large file into a Sub-assembly of smaller items.
When creating data from external companies, supplied in either STEP or Native CAD formats, Data eXchange Navigator enables you to completely understand the product structure definition. Showing the product breakdown in a hierarchical manner and allowing access to any associated information. DXN also allows you to visualise the geometric shape definition, prior to translating any of the data, using its integrated geometry visualisation tools.
